Scent of Cedars

A NEW BALLET SET ON THE WEST COAST OF
VANCOUVER ISLAND CIRCA 1890

IN CELEBRATION OF BC'S 150TH ANNIVERSARY

May 9th & 10th , 2008 (8:00 pm)
at the Oak Bay Community Theatre
(West Building of Oak Bay High – 2101 Cadboro Bay Road)

Based on an original libretto by Co-Artistic Directors Roberta Taylor & Graham McMonagle, Scent of Cedars follows the powerful story of a young couple living in a remote West Coast community as they struggle with the death of the husband's ailing blind mother. An emotionally charged story opens the audience up to the poinent beauty of the land we live in through the senses of an aging woman as they experience with her the tastes, sounds and scents of the West Coast circa 1890.

Canadian Pacific Ballet is thrilled to be presenting this World Premiere Ballet in celebration of BC's 150 th Anniversary. Don't miss this two-time award nominated company bring to life the classical romance of the westcoast.

Music composed by Carl Stamitz, with choreography by Roberta Taylor. Staged and Directed for Canadian Pacific Ballet by Roberta Taylor, Original Wardrobe Design & Construction by Graham McMonagle and Scenic Creations by Roberta Taylor & Graham McMonagle.

Graham McMonagle as the husband , Ursula Szkolak as the wife & Ashley Evans as the mother .

Canadian Pacific Ballet presents, the first in its Young Audience Series, Little Red Riding Hood.

This timeless story follows Little Red Riding Hood as she goes off with food to see her grandmother and encounters a wolf in the forest who plays a trick on her. The fairytale comes to life with all the wonderful characters including dancing chicks, 9ft geese and a dancing cow! The production also includes the classical forest birds.

This classic tale is sure to enchant the young and the young at heart and marks the first in Canadian Pacific Ballet's Young Audience Series designed for families. Join us this Mothers' Day Weekend for Little Red Riding Hood .

Canadian Pacific Ballet is thrilled to be presenting this children's Premiere. Audience members are asked to bring a non-parishable food item in support of the Queen Alexandra Foundation for Children . Don't miss this two-time award nominated company bring to life this classic fairytale.
