Dance Victoria Studios is home to Boston Dance Collective, a dynamic dance studio offering Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Modern and Musical Theatre.
BDC believes in providing strong technique and skills in an exciting and motivating environment. BDC’s philosophy is to encourage students’ success in all their dance disciplines, and to create well-rounded dancers and performers. In class, students are taught by exciting instructors who are positive, passionate, and who offer a wealth of experience combined with a strong technical background. Michael Boston, Artistic Director, Owner
Michael was blessed to have found his passion for the art of dance at a young age, and by the time he laced up his first pair of tap shoes on he was hooked. Michael's training began at the age of 4 and since has completed all major levels of Gilbert and ISTD tap exams with honours. Michael has received numerous awards in festivals and competitions here in Canada as well as the US. His professional career started at the age of sixteen, where he was accepted as a star dancer in a NYSO’s production of Tap Kids. At the age of 17 Michael moved to NYC to further his training with Savion Glover, Barbra Duffy, Dianne Walker, Roxanne Butterfly, Andrew Nemr, Lisa Hopkins, Mark Goodman and many others. Since then Michael has been fortunate enough to travel all over the US, Mexico and Europe packing major theatres spreading his love of TAP. He’s had the opportunity to adjudicate major competitions in Canada and the US, choreographed for film and theatre, taught master classes and shoot feature films. Most recent, Michael has been teaching in and around Victoria, and is well respected for his award winning choreography and energetic teaching style. Now Michael is ready to share his experience and passion for the art of tap dance while supplying the highest level of technical and professional training possible. His goal is to create a greater understanding and appreciation for tap by creating some of the strongest dancers Victoria has ever seen!
