Everyone knows that spring comes early in Victoria – but in 2010 it’s earlier than ever. Dance Victoria’s Spring Season kicks off on January 27 and 28 with the presentation of JONI MITCHELL’S The Fiddle and the Drum by Alberta Ballet. This thrilling new production has played to packed houses and standing ovations across the country! One day later, Canadian dance phenom Crystal Pite brings her newest work Dark Matters to the Royal Theatre directly from four performances at the Sidney Festival down under!

There’s already tons of buzz circling around Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s Moulin Rouge – The Ballet (February 9, 10 and 11) and tickets are selling fast.

The season ends with two exciting contemporary works. Compagnie Marie Chouinard will present The Rite of Spring in March and Vancouver’s Wen Wei Dance end the season with Cock-Pit, a sensuous, evocative meditation about boys on the edge of manhood.
